Here is Mr. Adeolu’s memory with Sweet Stephen, as shared on his Facebook account:

Stevoooooooo,

I remember this day with so much pain in my heart because it was the last thing anyone could think of not even considering the fact that we spoke few hours earlier and agreed to meet at Ile Oluji where we both planned to honor one of our mutual friends staging a show for the community as comperes free of charge.

I had went ahead of you to Ile Oluji with Godday Igho and Godwin Sunny Peter and waiting for you to join us as agreed but that never happened as you had an accident on the way coming.

After waiting endlessly, I thought you changed your mind probably a lucrative deal popped up. If na that one, we go settle am later now. Lol. After the Ile Oluji event, the organizers had planned checking us into an hotel but I started having a strange feeling within me and surprisingly I told them I was going back to Akure that night. At 9.15pm??? They felt I was not in my right senses or probably I was angry with them but then I told them, my mind was in Akure and I had to leave immediately. No argument was strong enough to change my mind that night!

On my way, I saw the accident scene. It was a gory sight. I slowed down and was wondering how that terrible accident happened on the road we passed just few hours earlier not knowing I had lost my dear friend and brother at that spot!

On getting to Akure, your wife’s call came in almost immediately and asked “Where is Daddy Desire? He said you guys are travelling to Ile Oluji together” I was blank. I told her I would call back. Where could you be? Was it an engagement? What could keep you off friends and immediate family? Your number was not going through. It was my longest night ever. No one had a clue. Even later when my contacts at Frsc gave me all the details which showed your car was the one involved in that accident and the driver died, I still felt there was a mix up. It couldn’t have been you. We had lots of plans now!!!!. The reality later dawned on me in the morning seeing your lifeless body at the morgue.

Oluwafemi, it’s been one whole year without you. No one has called me “Omo Ade” since you left. I had moved just as we planned to move out of the choking space. Your space at this side was reserved but death never allowed it to be but then we hold on to memories shared.

Nnenna Obasi Sotonwa has been one strong woman. Her strength is indeed divine. She was very strong all the way! Your kids are doing fine. Helpers arose and legacies linger on.

Akanji, sun re o.
