Omoba Segun Gbayi: The Toast of Lagos Mainland

Omoba Segun Gbayi has thrown his hat into the ring to represent the wholesome people of Lagos Mainland, Nigeria, in the Green Chambers of the National Assembly on the platform of the All Progressives Congress(APC) in 2023. That is not the main gist. The substance of this piece is the basis of the overwhelming acceptability and the obvious fast-growing poise and admiration of Omoba Gbayi among the Lagos โ€œmainlanders” and yonder.

Omoba Gbayi had, over the years, proven that it is never enough making a living by what one gets but making a life by what one gives, and that giving back to the society is not only about money, but also using whatever resources at one’s fingertips and applying them to improving the world.

All these can be evidently ascertained in Omoba Gbayi’s way of life. He has continued to make giving and purposeful impact on the society a sequence and lifestyle, thus, making him the toast of others, especially, the Lagos Mainlanders and their quest to have him represent them at the Green Chambers because of the trust reposed in him to bring about unprecedented and indelible impacts.

Already, Omoba Gbayi is, through personal limited resources, redefining services to humanity by his strides and undertakings in a manner that has caused many, including his admirers and staunch evaluators to marvel. It is, therefore, needless to say that when Gbayi eventually holds the legislative sway, he will do much more to make the Lagos Mainland better off.

Having been on the ground in the Lagos Mainland politics for about two decades and as a former board member of the Mainland Local Government Area under the Chairmanship of Hon. Rasheed Shabi, Omoba Gbayi has been able to feel the purse of his people directly and has been unswervingly using his retinue of networks and influences to improve the lot of the people. He is one of the few individuals with a strong belief that power should be used for the transformation of the society and development of the people. His understanding for seeking power is steady; while his relentless search for platforms to demonstrate and implement transformational ideas and policies is to transform the lives of the people of his constituency and beyond.

As a sportsman and sports administrator, having captained the Judo Association of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, and Nigeria Judo Association; served as a board member of Nigeria Judo Federation; Secretary Ogun State Sports Veteran Association; and Chairman Ogun State Judo Association, there is no doubt that Omoba Gbayi will continue to explore the numerous opportunities in the sporting arena to the advantage of the people of his constituency, especially, the youth.

Through his established foundations, Gbayi Judo Foundation and Gbayi Care Foundation, many youths, orphans, widows, widowers, less-privileged individuals and the aged within and outside his constituency have been empowered and taken off the streets to become self-reliant. Going forward, he will not be found wanting doing that.

Beyond his immediate Constituency, Omoba is also reaching out to other citizens. Many households and less-privileged individuals were given lifeline of help during the Covid-19 pandemic lockdown.

In the last one decade, Omoba Gbayi has focused more on provision of municipal services to his constituency. He placed premium on giving scholarships to students at all levels and provision of hygienic water via dredging of modern boreholes. He is also empowering artisans and traders, while he is also in constant touch with all the necessary stakeholders, including the traditional authorities.

Omoba Gbayi is not only a shining star at home, but also a star boy abroad, having been appointed a board member of Brampton Judo Trustee, Ontario, Canada. He is also an Immigration Consultant: Academy of Learning, Toronto, Canada; and a Project Coordinator at the Loblaw Companies, Canada.

Omoba Gbayi is fortified with the requisite academic qualifications. He studied Management and Accounting at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, and graduated in 2003; attended the Nigeria Institute of Management in 2008. He is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Management Accounting; and an Associate Member of the Nigeria Institute of Management.

At the moment, with the ongoing mind-blowing and far-reaching impacts of Omoba Gbayi and the preponderance of positive outlooks and trust by the people, the mainlanders be rest assured that the entire space of Lagos Mainland will become a spotlight of sterling developmental accomplishments with their own Makoko-born son, a pride to all and sundry, Omoba Segun Gbayi, holding sway in the Green Chambers.

It is, therefore, suffice to say that there is no better time than now for the Lagos Mainlanders to rally round the vision-driven Gbayi, who is irrevocably committed to engendering an egalitarian society through his programmes, activities and policies.
