One of the most populous department in Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko, National Association of Mass Communication Students (NAMACOS), had on April 21st 2021, elect a new Financial Secretary during the congress of the Association.
The election of the newly elected Financial Secretary, Ademola Divine, a 200 level student followed the resignation of the former Financial Secretary, due to reasons best known to her.
It will be noted that the Department is getting set to hold her annual Press week. And in preparation of that, the President has called for the entire students’ support.
In reviewing the constitution of the Association, the President of NAMACOS AAUA, Adesola Ikulajolu said, “the constitution has been made more than three years, and according to the law, the constitution should be revisited every four years. To make this happen, there should be a constitution review committee member from each level…”
However, in the process of congress, the anger of some of the congressmen present sparked like electricity when the President made mention of the WiFi bought and the five benches that got spoilt due to rainfall and closure of school during the lockdown in 2020.
One of those present at the congress, Godspower Olorunsaanumi popularly known as Baba Shade moved that the WiFi be sold and that usage of such was never a good idea for the Association. “Getting a wifi that cannot take more than 25 individuals when the population of the department is over 200 and that Airtel network is obviously bad within the school environment”, he said.
He however raised a suggestion that the president should sell the wifi or provide a better one for the department.
Also, a member of the department too known as Hon. Sammy B. raised a motion and urged that if the President and his Executives cannot make another provision for new benches from their personal pockets, then the sum Thirty Thousand Naira that was earlier used for fixing the five collapsed benches be returned.
While reacting, the President appreciated the members and ensure all hands are on deck to making sure the Association continue to soar high as it is known for.
